We're looking forward to welcoming young international and domestic Hereford leaders to compete in the U.S. in 2025 for the Young Breeders Competition.
The YBC will take place Oct. 19 – 25, 2025 with a portion of the event taking place in Manhattan, Kan., and the remainder in Kansas City, Mo.
Kansas City International Airport (MCI) is only 8 minutes from Hilton Kansas City Airport, where the competition teams will check-in before traveling to Manhattan, Kan. Attendees can use Uber, Lyft, or taxis. Rideshare pickup areas are designated and clearly marked at the airport. There is also a shuttle from the airport to this hotel. The shuttle operates from 4:00 am to 11:00 pm Sunday - Thursday and 4:00 am- 10:00 pm Friday - Saturday. Please call the hotel directly to request shuttle service during these times +1 816-321-1900.

For minor medical needs, urgent care clinics are available throughout the city. Pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens are common and often have extended hours.
Specific attire for days of the competition Is outlined in the linked PDF, along with what items the American Hereford Association will be providing. Beyond what is listed, attire for the conference is western business casual. Attendees are encouraged to wear clothing such as nice jeans or slacks paired with boots and a sport coat or collared shirt for men, or a blouse for women.
The Welcome Reception will be hosted at the American Hereford Association. Attendees are encouraged to ride the provided buses from the Kansas City Marriott Downtown to the AHA office. Bus loading will begin at 5:15 p.m.
The Global Celebratory Banquet will take place at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs. All attendees are encouraged to ride the provided buses from the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Departure is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
The Global Celebratory Banquet is a formal evening event. Attendees are encouraged to wear business formal or cocktail attire, such as suits or sport coats with dress shirts for men and dresses or elegant separates for women.
In late October, Kansas City typically experiences mild to cool weather. Daytime temperatures generally range from 55°F to 70°F (13°C to 21°C), while evenings can be cooler, often falling into the 40s°F (4–9°C). Attendees should pack layers to stay comfortable throughout the day, and a light jacket or sweater is recommended for cooler mornings and evenings. Rain is possible, so bringing a compact umbrella or rain jacket may also be helpful.

KC Streetcar – Runs 2.2 miles along Main Street from Union Station to the River Market. Free to ride, with frequent stops at popular destinations like Union Station, Crossroads, Power & Light District, and City Market. No ticket required, just hop on and off.
Uber & Lyft – Both rideshare apps are widely used and available in Kansas City.
Yes. Most hotels, cafés, and conference venues offer free Wi-Fi. For international travelers, check with your mobile provider regarding roaming options, or consider purchasing a local SIM card at major retailers if needed.
The U.S. uses Type A and Type B plugs, with 120V voltage and 60Hz frequency. If your devices use a different plug type, bring a travel adapter. For electronics that aren’t dual-voltage, a voltage converter will also be needed.
